The Woonsocket City Councils move of removing Al Brien from the - TopicsExpress

The Woonsocket City Councils move of removing Al Brien from the council presidency was another act of arrogance in a series of such acts. It wasnt just arrogant, it was illegal in the violation of the city charter. However; the city council has not cornered the market on arrogance, the Mayor certainly has her share. The most arrogant behavior she displayed was not only securing a job for her son (on the citys dime) in the summer job program for young people, but keeping the program secret from the public; Thus, depriving other young people the opportunity to earn some money this past summer. Ten youngsters of her choosing (all boys) were the only ones given the opportunity - Im glad John Ward has filed ethic violations against the mayor- but this wasnt just unethical, I believe it is illegal. The city may even find itself entangled in another lawsuit if a parent of one of the children who was deprived the opportunity decides to take legal action. There could even be an accusation of discrimination since all of the kids were boys. I have been unhappy with the city council and this mayor since Day One. The councils ineptitude has manifested itself in many ways -- from an inability to understand the charter-- to not being able to conduct a meeting in an organized fashion, sometimes not seeming to understand the rules of order. None of this behavior, in my mind, rose to the level of exercising the Recall Rule. However, the conduct I referred to in the beginning of this rant by the four council members who ousted councilman Brien as president and the conduct by the mayor I believe rise to that level. If a recall petition is drawn up, I will sign it.
