The ‘X’ Factor Imran Khan’s marriage to Reham Khan - TopicsExpress

The ‘X’ Factor Imran Khan’s marriage to Reham Khan continues to evoke considerable interest particularly on the social media. The spicy media attention has mostly focused on personal aspects and little on the marriage’s impact on his and PTI politics. The little interaction I had with Reham Khan was as a guest on a couple of TV talk shows that she hosted after the 2013 elections. She was keen to know about Imran Khan and in particular about the people surrounding him. My candid opinion about them matched hers as at least one of Khan’s closest advisors had already exposed his ‘sick nature’ by demanding an ‘interview’ first before allowing her to interview the ‘Man.’ From our conversations, I could gather that she was bright and intelligent and had done her homework on the issues to be discussed during the programs. Imran Khan is a loner by nature. On several occasions returning late at night from trips to KP and nearby towns, he could not resist commenting the moment the vehicle would enter the gates of his residence ‘Akbar this is my heaven where I find the greatest peace alone.’ To be suddenly inundated with the trappings of a full family would be a challenge to adapt to for any hardened bachelor more so for a seasoned loner accustomed to an unabashedly wild bachelor lifestyle. The two persons he cares most in this entire world are his sons, the rest are all expendable. How the father-sons relationship evolves after his marriage could be a make or break factor for him in more ways than one. The surprise ascent of Reham Khan on the Bani Gala Hilltop has introduced an ‘X’ factor that Imran Khan’s closest cronies are finding difficult to rationalize with and manage to their advantage. Those contemplating to take over functional control over the party by inducting stinking buddies have gone back to the drawing boards. Some of Imran Khan’s closest cronies are bare to the bones to the new lady of the house and may find it impossible to sustain their status. A few have already made it to Lahore sulking with close family members while contemplating the risks of the ‘wild card’ in the PTI power paradigm. The senate elections may provide the first insight into the impact of the ‘X’ factor in PTI politics. The ‘lounge lizards’ cannot afford going into temporary hibernation behind crevices, their usual fallback option, as some of them were ‘promised’ senate seats for their ‘qurbani’ mostly ‘haram.’ The tired face of change is eyeing a senate seat for one his close family members in whose house the ‘X’ factor was first secretly baptized in the PTI House of Lords. True to the idiom ‘when the cat is away, the mice can play,’ most PTI MPAs are having a field day negotiating their terms for their senate vote with wealthy crooks masquerading as politicians. Those who were promised a senate ticket within the party are nervously holding their breath and letting loose their wallets fearing Imran Khan’s recently acquired in-house fame of ‘promises are only made to be broken.’ In contrast, those who facilitated the ‘X’ factor during her months of toil to climb the ‘Bani Gala hill top’ are enjoying the sweet and mellow winter Potohar sunshine like never before. The greatest challenge to successfully manage his latest transition may require a complete transformation in lifestyle as Abraham Lincoln is quoted to have said ‘Marriage is neither heaven nor hell, it is simply purgatory (suffering).” By all accounts, the success or failure of his latest adventure may well determine whatever role is left of him and PTI to play in national politics after committing one political hara-kiri after another. No small challenge for a ‘hardened bachelor’ who refuses to acknowledge his advancing age ‘Akbar I did a complete medical checkup in London and my doctors tell me that my body metabolism is that of a late thirty year old.’ Good luck young man.
