The ability of the human body far surpasses our knowledge, yet we - TopicsExpress

The ability of the human body far surpasses our knowledge, yet we have historically been incredibly arrogant in assuming we know it all...only to be proved wrong on so many things over the years. When doctors tell people that they will never walk again the placebo affect is so strong that it could almost be construed as detrimental to health. There have been many cases where patients have defied Doctors assumptions yet we still cling to the assumptions made by people that are clinging themselves to things that make sense...which is very limiting. Apply this to sports and performance and it is the same, I had a debate in Grad school with people in class about whether it was possibly to run a sub 3 minute mile and many classmates were stating it was impossible? My argument was that before the sub 4 minute mile everyone thought that was impossible too! Feats of human performance have been breaking boundaries for centuries, yet we still live in a World of limits. So if you had the knowledge that the body can do pretty much anything the mind can conceive what would you do differently? npr.org/programs/ted-radio-hour/283440560/extrasensory?showDate=2014-03-07
