The attack on the Grandpass Masjid by a group of Buddhist - TopicsExpress

The attack on the Grandpass Masjid by a group of Buddhist Extremists should be condemned. The Muslim Embassies should undertake actions in order to make the government of Sri Lanka act unbiasedly. Due to the activities of the few racists and extremists, antagonism and hostilities towards the muslims have been carried out as the beads falling from a broken prayer tel. One after the other , a series of events against muslims is taking place consequently. One such event is the attack on the Grandpass Masjid, yesterday. The attack had taken place when the muslim devotees were about to offer the Magrib prayer. This event, cum the attack on muslim business centres and their places of worship is nothing but denial of basic human rights. As Sri Lanka is a Socialist Democratic Country , every citizen of it has the right to follow the religion of his choice, and to carry on his religious rituals and rites. As this is the law of the land, no racist group can be allowed to say or act otherwise. These types of attacks cannot and could not be observed passively and be silent observers. Before the actions of these racists take the form of deep roots and grow, the President Mahinda Rajapakse should act accordingly and put a full stop to these types of racial activities. For this, the embassies of the Muslim Countries too should urge the leader of Sri Lanka Never have the muslims acted in a manner of causing harm to other religions. They, as per the teaching of their religion had been practising their faith peacefully. Also, after the war, all Sri Lankans had been living unitedly, bearing in mind that they all belong to one nation. They are Sri Lankans. In such a circumstance, the activities of these racists is a means of destroying the calm and peaceful atmosphere found in Sri Lanka. Moreover the president should take actions in order to ensure the peaceful living of Sri Lankan Muslims, and to practise their faith without any obstructions. Also the closed Masjids should be re-opened. We expect your fullest support for the betterment of the Sri Lankan Muslims. Thank you. Muise Wahabdeen
