The best thing to do to avoid sickness, illness and disease is to keep your immune system strong. Vitamin D is produced in your skin when exposed to sunlight. It is key in absorption of calcium, aka your bones and teeth as well, while keeping your immune system functioning optimally. If you dont get enough sunshine you can get osteoporosis or osteomalacia. It effects normal growth and overall protection against a number of diseases. Basically your immune system is freaking when its lacking sun. Imagine the average office worker indoors 40 hours a week during sunlight hours? Whos sicker? Office people or outdoor careers?I also recommend no sunblock whatsoever ( thats a whole other post ), dont worry it doesnt have to be long to get the benefits so you wont burn. You want your chest, back and stomach exposed because thats where your organs are!! More people tell me they get plenty of sun by how their arms, legs and face are exposed, but the areas that need it should be exposed!! This is how my mom and grandma use to make me stay healthy as a kid, dry up a cold or runny nose, or give me a dose of vitamins. This is how I keep my girls healthy as well!!
