The blind sell out to the coal industry is disgusting. ‘no longer any cause for a mandated use of any specific type of power’… ummm climate change anyone? Increased temperatures, fires, storms, floods, droughts – impacts to infrastructure, agriculture, health care, water supply, coastal towns and cities. Forget the $25 billion the coal industry is going to make, what about the economic impact to the country and our natural environment of not doing anything to mitigate carbon pollution! Australia produced nearly 35,000 GWhr of renewable energy last year, of which, roughly 89% is large scale generation. That’s 31,000 GWhr. The revised targets they are looking to ‘set’ (if they set any) would actually be below current production… The good news it that a whole bunch more wind farms came online this year, and more are set to come online next year too. These companies wont be turning them off just because Abbott wants the money to go to polluting coal companies.
