The boys in my cabin were telling scary stories last night. Tonight they asked me to tell a scary story... So I read the copperhead section from my reptile field guide. It discussed their venom, heat pits, their habitat, and mentioned how they are most active during the night in the middle of the summer. At first the boys were giggling, but by the end the room was silent. One boy thought I was making it up, so I passed the book around and let them look at the photographs. Now they are all awake, just laying still and being very quite.
