The burn ban for Independence County as of this morning has been lifted, according to County Judge Robert Griffin. “As there are some areas that have not received significant rainfall to date, we caution people in those areas to check with their local fire chief to determine the safety of burning,” he said. Sharp County’s ban on burning remains in effect, said County Judge Larry Brown. About 9 this morning, Brown said that not enough areas of the county had received enough rainfall to lift the ban. For example, the area just north of Cave City had received only perhaps a quarter-inch by that time. Brown said he will continue to monitor the situation.
