The buyer of this turquoise, who wants to return it, has been - TopicsExpress

The buyer of this turquoise, who wants to return it, has been really evasive about our question as to how he determined its hardness and whether or not he has altered it. I know it is a softer, unstabilized turquoise but I sold it as a specimen not jewelry material. Hes claiming that its fake (I know its not howlite) because when he soaked it in water it left a white residue on his fingers. I got it wet myself for some of the pictures and experienced nothing like what the buyer is describing. Hes also claiming he knows its fake because its heavier after soaking it. Its soft turquoise and porous so thats no surprise but I think he must have soaked it for quite a while for it to take on that much water. My question is, if you soak (actually soak, not just wet) unstabilized turquoise, will it dissolve, weaken, or be damaged in any way? I dont think this guy is very knowledgable about turquoise and it sounds like hes experimenting with the specimen and now wants to return it. Theres no way Im taking it back if he has permanently altered it. m.ebay/itm/361101885710?_mwBanner=1
