The charter schools that have been tested in the inner cities of Washington D.C. and New Orleans have been successful, and the parents wait in line to get their kids enrolled as space is limited. The parents know it is a way out for their kids, but the Democrats and the school unions thwart it at every turn. Black students overachieve compared to schools in other districts, but being black is not the problem, because they are given no chance in this system to excel. The Democrats are slowing the movement for Charter schools in the inner city. Why? For a white guy like me, it seems simple: qualified teachers, charter schools, reading, writing, and arithmetic. A little civics lesson about capitalism, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Just Google “New Orleans Charter Schools” and read the success stories; it is not just one person advocating for this change, the whole community has been uplifted. Black people of this country don’t need sympathy, they need an education and to believe that they can live the life of the white people they see on TV shows. Nevertheless, there are people out there, black and white, who will stop any progress in the black community, and those people belong to the Democratic Party. Tanara Thomas, Irma London, and Bertha Johnson are succeeding with the odds against them. Hopefully when they graduate college, they will see that Charter Schools helped them succeed, not the Democratic Party that gave their parents money. Now, they can show others like them that they can succeed. When they graduate from college, get a job, and continue to be Democrats, where they vote for higher taxes and more teachers, then their destiny will have been a waste. Don’t fall into the trap, more money and sympathy has not helped blacks and they are not better off. Instead, they need to vote, fight for charter schools, and say, “look at me it works.” Voting Democratic is the same old thing, and it won’t help the black community. Maybe it’s the easy approach for athletes who are making millions of dollars to vote Democratic, knowing some of their tax money will go back home. But their communities have shown no progress. A lot of white people think that black people don’t have what it takes to succeed, and that somehow they are not smart enough. They feel better by voting Democratic and paying higher taxes as a way of giving them money. Does that help? Tanara, Irma, and Bertha, you have a great opportunity to do something for your race. Martin Luther King talked about it, but you can do more. With an education, you can be anything you want to be. Be successful and fight for the kids behind you. If it can be done in New Orleans, it can be done anywhere. The Democrats will fight you all the way, but tell your story and you can look back when you have children and know that when they get on the school bus, they are going to have the opportunity for a quality education, and that you had something to do with making that happen. Good luck. You can do it.
