The chiefs, boat drivers, and truck drivers have a dispute going. - TopicsExpress

The chiefs, boat drivers, and truck drivers have a dispute going. The 3 trucks that normally pick the boat passengers up and drive them to town on the other side of the mainland refuse to provide service for the people on my island due to the dispute. This resulted in me having to wake up EXTRA early to hike down the rocky slope to the village with the headmaster (as opposed to the muddy slope to the boat landing – making it 10 times more difficult) to convince the boat drivers to allow me to take a boat. They call a truck driver from a different village to pick us up when we dock at the mainland, since the other drivers will not. He said yes. We take the boat the mainland. Once getting there, turns out the chief of that village forbid ANY trucks from picking up boat passengers from my island (only in his village). So we left the village and walked to the road. After all this commotion, all the drivers going to town had already left. Waited 5 and a half hours. Finally got on a bus. I am now in town. Woke up at 4:30am, got to town at 2:30pm. Oh Vanuatu.
