In your spare moments, please help them out by praying for a resolution for them. 8888888888888888888888888888888888 Were working out the details of beginning a new school year. You know how it is. Its all new and fresh. Youre so hopeful and excited. We were that way last year, but this year, its a whole new ball game. A wig. Hats. A 504 plan. Explanations. Fatigue. Nausea. Medications. Appointments. Absences. Hospitals. Excuses. Fear. Tears. Anxiety. Unknowns. Looks. Questions. Whispers. Gossip. Chemo. Yeah, the chemo... Last year started out normal. Then the bullying started. Our sick daughter was showing signs of her sickness that no one recognized or understood. One particular symptom lead to some pretty awful bullying at school. At the time, we had no way of knowing what was happening to her, but the other kids found something that they could capitalize on and, of course, they were unkind. So unkind, and for what gain? If only they knew what their meanness did to our daughter, to our family.... If and when she recovers, shell probably continue to wear this badge of cancer honor. It may never go away. Most likely, every day of her life, shell be reminded. Shell be reminded of the cancer and of how unkind the other kids were to her. They had no way of knowing, but they bullied her about something that turned out to be a symptom of a very rare cancer. Well done, punks. If ever there was a lesson in how terrible bullying is, here it is. Id like to somehow raise awareness of how destructive bullying can be. Id like to reach and remind everyone that we all need to be kind to each other. Were all fighting our own hidden battles. Some of us have bigger battles to fight than others. If we all just default to kindness, always, wed all be better off. Its so simple. I dunno. Is there a positive here? Its a stretch, but I do believe that humans are capable of better behavior toward each other than this, even in middle school. Perhaps, through our collective ignorance and failings, we learn, grow, and do better. Or not... stay +++! (
