The city of Saco has seized my family home for $5500.00 in back taxes. Any of my FB friends who are present or former Saco residents and tax payers who are interested in further details of how a town acquires a $150,000.00 property for the sake of such a small amount of back taxes so that the heirs to the estate lose that as a part of their inheritance can private message me and I will divulge the full details to you. I feel it is important for the tax payers to know that 6 months after Saco considered the house theirs (January 2013) no insurance was placed on the house by the city, no sign put on the door indicating that it had been seized, no eviction proceeding for my brother who was living there up to the point of him being arrested at the end of August, and so on. I was guardian of my mother (the owner) from November 2011 until her passing in June of 2012 and never received any notice of pending foreclosure until February 2013 after they had already claimed possession of it. Even if I had received notice in time to pay the taxes, my brother had already stolen all the money out of my Moms bank account to my estimate of $269,000.00 and due to his being a member of the Sovereign Nation he refused to pay the taxes as those people feel they dont have to. Please look up Sovereign Nation on Wikipedia to find out some very interesting info on the scam which the government isnt taking lightly these days and considers them domestic terrorists. I assure you that I personally dont subscribe to the same beliefs as my brother and consider myself very much a victim in this situation! He abused my mother through neglect back in 2011 and at the last minute called the rescue for her when she was on deaths door with anorexia, malnutrition, dehydration, and a severe UTI which had shut down her kidneys. He had locked me out of the house approximately a year and a half earlier. His abuse of her through neglect and his financial exploitation of her were apparently no reason to launch an investigation or to seek charges against him.
