The claim that any industrial wind factory can power X number of homes is typical inaccurate wind sales spin - geared at the energy-illiterate. The industrial wind industry loves when reporters repeat these claims unquestioned to the public. Industrial wind turbines provide virtually NO firm capacity (specified amounts of power on demand) - the reliable, dispatchable, baseload power that modern power demands. Industrial wind factories typically provide about 25% of their nameplate capacity on a random basis - many days providing nothing at all. Energy analyst, Glenn Schleede says: “When you see these things advertised, they talk about how many megawatts of capacity, the number of homes served and all that garbage.
