The comparison of the international response to the events in Paris with that the response to the ongoing Boko Haram attacks in both Northern Nigeria and Cameroon, do raise deeper questions about (international) solidarity and the way in which human life is valued. Clearly, we should be able to articulate the reasons why we all moved as one and stood in solidarity with the friends and families of the victims in Paris (despite our personal opinions about Charlie Hebdo), yet remain silent on the attacks in Northern Nigeria and Cameroon. An acknowledgement of these developments and an organized response from the government would have helped a great deal, but the lack of it does not take away our right to show our outrage. The decision to stand against terrorism and protect the the right to life is not one that is dependent on who is killed and whether one is killed in Paris or Kolofata. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere...MLK
