The concept of sowing and reaping is all over Scripture because it is so important. We need to understand that our actions have consequences, either way. If we do selfish things, or things within our sinful nature, we will reap destruction. The Word tells us that the wages of sin is death. And we know that Satan has come to kill, steal, and destroy. Every time we listen to that little devil sitting on one shoulder, we sow to the flesh and we participate in the devil’s kingdom – which harvest’s his fruits. Then we try to blame God, "How could YOU let this happen?" Beloved, it is the result of our actions, feelings, thoughts, and choices. God does not cause us to sin. Ever. The reverse side, the side with the little angel on your shoulder - is the reward of sowing to please the Spirit; there is a great harvest of eternal life to be reaped, and maybe not just our eternal life, but for others’ lives, too. When you choose to help a person in need, especially a fellow believer, you are sowing to the Spirit. Hang in there and do not become weary of doing good, for when we sow to the Spirit, we help ourselves and other here in the now, and we build up an eternal reward.
