The conscious targeting of conservative groups by the IRS is a gross abuse of federal power. No American should be subject to scrutiny or discrimination because of their political views. It is a blatant infringement of our First Amendment rights. Today, I voted to hold Lois Lerner in contempt and to call on the Department of Justice to appoint an independent prosecutor to investigate this matter.
