The constant flow of bad news about the (Tory caused) crisis in the NHS is part of an ongoing campaign by the right and powerful vested interests to undermine public support. The British health service was assessed by an independent international body last year as the best among the developing nations, on everything from outcomes to cost effectiveness. UKIP, the right wing outriders of Tory ideology, have flip-flopped publicly about their NHS plans, yet their private meetings acknowledge “the NHS is highly valued by the British people, despite its problems and limitations”, and that “we cannot change it wholesale because the public love it”. The desire to change this public sentiment explains the constant battering the NHS has had from our media barons, as the powers that be pursue their privatisation agenda: the Tories slash and burn NHS and related social care funding, deliberately mismanage by constant tampering with things they dont properly understand, and siphon off billions from the health budget into their favoured (greed driven and patently inefficient) private corporations.
