The controversy thats risen around the cover to Teen Titans #1 is very interesting in many ways and from many angles. The critique seems to stem from the UNREALISTIC portrayal of Wonder Girl. As this article points out, the anatomy and costume of a teenage girl on the cover seemed off from both a biological and marketing perspective. What interests me about this is that the author of the original article critiqued the biological depiction of Wonder Girl. It tells me that, in some cases, people are okay with realism like anatomy in comic books. I for one agree with the author, so lets be clear about that. She makes great points about it. The question would be, why cant that realism extend to the narrative as well? Why should it be one sided? I know what someone like Morrison would be alleged to say about it, lol. Sadly, people would agree with that, whether it was true or not that he said it.
