The conversation about a near accident in the HS Rd. roundabout - TopicsExpress

The conversation about a near accident in the HS Rd. roundabout really got me thinking. Refresher: someone driving in the circle encountered pedestrians and stopped. Some astute person here said the correct response is to continue driving around the circle. Geez, I would have never thought of that, but it is so right. Which got me thinking, wouldnt it be better for everyone involved if pedestrians and drivers didnt have to contend with each other right at the circle? Given that these circles are not that common in the Western US, its already challenging enough for many drivers. Here is an overhead image of the circle, and I have moved the crosswalks back about 3 car lengths. I know frequenters of this corner might gripe about the extra 30 seconds of walking, but I for one think it would be worth it. Thoughts?
