The conversation continues about Human Rights as we move along to Human Right #7 - All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination. Equality is still a troubling word in our world. In Guyana, the frightening facts are before us as we look at our justice system and the way sanctions seem to be based on who you are within our society. We ask the questions: 1) Is our justice system a level playing field for our citizens? 2) Do we have stereotypical sanctions and convenient loop holes based on which side of the law youre on? 3) What measures can we put in place to uphold this fundamental right?
