The craziest thing happened on Saturday night...I got pulled over while heading home after a wild round of... UNO and worship songs at a friends house. It was late and the officer was probably concerned for his safety when he approached my car. I mean, doesnt he know that I was just playing UNO?...(insert sarcasm here) I smiled and greeted him with respect when he unexpectedly asked for my id! I mean, I didnt take the test at the DMV to show this id to anyone. I just got it to fill the special pocket in my wallet! Why would an officer do that? For some reason, after he checked my id he seemed to be even more at ease and even smiled a couple times. Crazy huh! Things really escalated when I told him thanks for what he did to keep our community safe. I think he may have even left feeling good about his job. I offered him a glowonline.org gift. He said thanks but he couldnt take it since his job doesnt allow him to accept gifts. He acted as though he appreciated what I said and I think he may have waved back as he drove away. No one can argue against the reality that some horrible officers exist. Ive been profiled before. I know what it feels like to be treated unfairly. All that said, lets take any opportunity we can to encourage the officers that are actually trying to do the right thing. Lets end the us vs them war and support the men and women that actually take to heart their promise to serve and protect.
