The demise of OZIL by Sony Madman Boughan Arsenal fans demanded - TopicsExpress

The demise of OZIL by Sony Madman Boughan Arsenal fans demanded a big name signing in the summer, and after failing to acquire the services of their primary target (namely a striker), arsenal fans ultimately got exactly what they demanded, a big name. Ozil arrived in the premiership with a massive reputation, and a huge price tag, and of course, wonderful statistics which apparently included records for number of assists. Arsenal clearly fell for these manipulated numbers. If a player beats 2 opposition players, then makes a decisive pass which creates a goal scoring opportunity, and does this consistently, he is probably a great player. However if someone picks the ball up in midfield and passes it to Ronaldo, who then smashes a 30 yard screamer, is that the sign of a great player. This is food for thought over all those assists Ozil has created, do they make him a great 42 million (think about that figure) pounds player?? Since arriving in the premiership, his influence on games has very quickly diminished, there is no doubt he has lost a yard of pace, people will point to him leaving the England midfield in his tracks in the world cup, however that was 4 years ago, and that England midfield included Gareth Barry, so lets all calm down and put things into perspective. One effect he has had this season is that he has lifted those around him, e.g. Ramsey, who has been the actual star of the show. He doesnt seem to be able to beat players, as his reputation suggests with that blistering speed??? I havent seen many world class passes or moments of genius, Im afraid real Madrid conducted some shrewd business by receiving 42million, that said they were conned themselves with bale, great player, but how many millions!!!??? Assess Ozils performances, please believe me, he is 42m yes! World class? Emphatically no!. Compare to coutinho, 12m approx, looks twice the player Ozil is. Unless I see a dramatic change in his form, I fear arsenal will fade as usual, probably finish 3rd, unless they strengthen in January with an actual world class signing, as Im afraid Ozil is not the answer. Sonys debut is bound to divide opinion - do you agree with him?
