The die is cast and morning will reveal whether it is Yes now, or Yes later. But one thing that has been achieved is remarkable in its own right. This campaign that has been on the go for a very long time but came into its own two years ago has created something that has been systematically smashed elsewhere so as to expand corporatism via the neo-liberal project - a true sense of community. Nobody who has observed the campaign, particularly over the past couple of months, can fail to be impressed at the level of engagement within the Yes campaign (the No campaign seems to be a different kettle of fish) to the simple and the complex issues around independence, and the democratic nature of the gatherings on streets and in villages. It has been a privilege to observe from a distance, and reconfirms the desire of people at large to have a say in their own affairs when given the chance - a markedly different situation in Scotland now than in most of the western world over the past 20 years or so. But Scotland has shown the way, and may well have ignited something further afield that has the potential to sweep from power the thugs and brigands who would impose corporatism-fascism if allowed. Amazing people, amazing campaign, and I hope an amazing result in the morning. Fair dues to all involved, come what may.
