The difficulties that Mr. Hamilton and his caring family experienced in obtaining quality mental health services for Dontre reinforce the urgent need for Milwaukee to invest in an expansion of community based mental health services. Milwaukee County residents with mental health needs continue to suffer because of limited access to community services including housing, inadequate crisis response and diversion services, reductions in inpatient beds, and a system that is extraordinarily difficult to navigate.
