The doctors appointment went really well today. I have no doubt that we have the best neurosurgeon and neurologist on our team. They both have both made me 110% confident in our decision. Plus, we found out her hearing will NOT be effected! Wahooo! I also got some good more good news... I recently sent all of Olivias scans and test results to the top infantile spasms doctor in the US @ UCLA and we have been emailing back and forth. He sent me his final opinion today stating I would agree that a hemispherectomy is a reasonable step forward, though Olivia’s chances for long-term seizure-freedom are quite a bit lower than the typical epilepsy surgery candidate. That email has put as at ease now knowing he agrees that this is the best treatment for Olivia. Granted we do know that the right side is damaged and there is a chance it can start to have some epileptic type of activity; right now it doesnt or its being controlled with medication which is all a good sign and if it does start we have a better chance to control it with medication. All and all a good day! Alfredo and I are hopefully going to sleep well tonight knowing we have made the best decisions. Our lifes are filled with what ifs and today we KNOW this is the best choice no matter the what ifs! Well with that said Im off to bed! Sleep tight Olivias Solders. ;-)
