The dogs and cats at DAWGSnTEXAS wanted to share this holiday season with you. They had thought about getting gifts, but had no money as no one had any pockets and may have wrote a note but no one had any thumbs or fingers. So, here is their favorite song about some of the special dogs and cats at the sanctuary. Please overlook the occasional shy looks, moon eyes and blurs, some of them are a little camera shy! Please watch each day as we build our… “TWELVE DAYS of DAWGSnTEXAS” ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, DAWGS SHARES CHEYENNE WITH YOU... CHEYENNE has been with us for eleven years. She came to the shelter when she had been hit by a car. She recovered from her injuries with Hooch, a bait dog that we had found abandoned on the railroad tracks. She and Hooch healed together and formed a lifelong bond which made it impossible to separate them. Sadly, Hooch recently lost his battle to cancer and now Cheyenne really needs a home for the holidays and forever, how about yours? ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, DAWGS SHARES...TWO SAINT BERNARDS... RAYLEIGH and ABBEY came to DAWGS from a family in KS. They had gotten in trouble for chasing cats and not being nice to them! SOOO, they need a secure backyard and NO CATS! They love to be inside and part of a family...especially one with children! They really need to go together as they love each other very much. They would love a home for the holidays and forever, how about yours? ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, DAWGS HAS THREE, BIG, BOXER BOYS.. DODGER was adopted as a puppy and was returned because he had changed after being neutered...hmmmm?!? He is a St Bernard/ Boxer mix. MAX is still an adorable puppy and would love to spend the holidays and forever being part of a wonderful family....could that be you? Max came to us after living on a chain for his first six months and loves being free to play and run and snuggle. REGGIE was surrendered to DAWGS from the Dumas Animal Control on his last day and thankfully we were about to bring him home. All fun, fascinating and adorable boxers looking for love! ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, DAWGS SHARES FOUR HAPPY LABS... BIG JOHN is a black lab and great dane mix. He is about one year old (so still growing) and came to DAWGS from the Amarillo Animal Control on his last day. He had been an owner surrender because they were going to move into a new house and didnt want a big dog running through and getting the carpets dirty. Am sure Big John would have wiped his feet, the rest of his body is too high off the floor to be a problem! Big John is looking for a forever home and to be part of a family that loves him regardless of his size or his ability to leave pawprints (except those he leaves on your heart:) SNOW is a white lab that was rescued rom the Pampa Animal Control on her last day and came to DAWGS. She had a nice home and family and then there was big changes and the dynamics of the family changed. They decided they didnt have time for Snow nor did they want her anymore since she wasnt little and cute...she is still pretty and cute just not so little! Seriously they knew she was a LAB!!! She would love to be part of a family and be loved for a lifetime. MOLLY is a chocolate lab that had been adopted from us and one day we received the call she was in the Amarillo Animal Control and no one came to get her! So we rescued her a second time and she is such a sweetheart. She loves everyone! A would love to spend forever with someone special that will take care of her for a lifetime. NORMAN is a golden lab/golden retriever mix. He was rescued from the Dumas Animal Control on his last day with a little buddy named, Mick. Mick was quickly adopted and now lives in CO. Norman is a Texas kind of guy, loves wide open spaced and wants to stay here and be loved for the holidays and forever! ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, DAWGS SHARES FIVE GOLDEN/SHEPHERDS... ANGEL is a golden retriever/shepherd mix with a cleft palate and is a miracle baby. The vets have said they had never seen a case where an animal had such a problem that they survived. Her former family kept her for a year and then surrendered her to animal control and they laughed and laughed and pointed fingers and ANGEL tried to melt into the wall. Thankfully our DAWGS volunteer was there and she took ANGEL in and told her she was beautiful and ANGEL collapsed into her arms. ANGEL is now healthy and needing a loving forever home that can see past her handicap and love her for the amazing dog that she is...could that be you? ZACK was dropped off at the shelter in the middle of the night and was calmly waiting for our arrival and attention. He is a sweetheart and loves being part of a family. SHEA was an owner surrender to a local animal control and was to be put to sleep immediately and fortunately we were able to rescue her...she is adorable and loves people and children. COWGIRL was adopted and returned when her family went through a terrible divorce. She is hoping to find another special home with children and other animals and a soft place to lay and dream about her new life...can you help? DEACON is a beautiful boy who was rescued from the Dumas Animal Control on his last day and almost his last hour. He is incredibly smart and loves to go for rides in trucks and looks out the window, would like to drive but that might be an issue! ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, DAWGSNTEXAS PRESENTS SIX PITTIES TO YOU... THEA is a little pit mix puppy about 9 weeks old. She loves to cuddle and to be held and she loves other dogs and cats. SPUDS is a eight month old litte pit mix. He came to DAWGS from the Dumas Animal Control on his last day. He had horribly infected scissor cropped ears and was very puny but so wanted to snuggle and be loved. He is an adorable baby and now so ready for his forever home. DIAMOND is a beautiful girl that was found after a storm dragging a huge, heavy chain around her neck. A kind volunteer rescued her and brought her to DAWGS. She loves people and other animals and lots of love! MIDAS and BRICK were both surrendered by their family when they had to move to CA and did not have the ability to take the two boys with them. They think they are itty bitty pitties and are awesome! PETEY was found tied to our front gate early one morning with a note attached to a bag of food. He was so happy someone arrived! He is a wonderful boy and loves to play with stuffed animals, he acts like they are his babies! ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, DAWGS SHARES SEVEN DOXIES AND CHIWEENIES... ABBOT AND HAMLET are adorable chiweenies that were rescued from the Dumas Animal Control on their last day. They love belly rubs and snuggles. SASSY AND SUZY Q were adopted and traveled across the US in a big wheeler. When the man had a debilitating injury he has to return them to us. They love everyone. POE was part of a litter of three, rescued from the Stratford Animal Control. Edgar and Allen were quickly adopted and Poe is waiting for his lucky day! PEANUT was found running on a football field during a big game. He thought he could make that winning touchdown if only they would throw him the ball! But instead he went to animal control and was rescued by DAWGS on his last day. Now he needs his forever home and lots of balls to play with. KOLA was rescued from a bar ditch, where he had become tangled in wire...he was so glad someone came by and is so ready for a home. ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, DAWGS SHARES EIGHT AUSSIES AND HEELERS ... THE BANGER SISTERS (Goldie and Suzy) were both rescued from the Amarillo Animal Control on their last day. They had been adopted from the Humane Society and returned when their family was too busy for them. They love each other but would be okay in separate homes and both are adorable! SISSY was rescued from the Pampa Animal Control on her last day and loves attention and loves to play. DANI was rescued from the Dumas Animal Control on his last day and he would love to be your best buddy for the holidays and forever! BART was rescued from the Amarillo Animal Control on his last day. He had a collar and tag but the number was no longer in service and no one ever came for him. So now he would so love a family to love forever. BLAKE was also rescued from the Amarillo Anima Control. He was found with a long chain hooked to his choke chain...thankfully he came to DAWGS so he could find his forever home. RED was rescued from the Amarillo Animal Control with her three puppies on their last day. After everyone was healthy and vetted, the puppies were quickly adopted and now RED would love to find her forever family and home. CLEO was rescued from the Pampa Animal Control and adopted by their group to a nice family. Then they had to move and could not take her with them so they brought him to DAWGS. She loves attention and being part of a family.
