The effectiveness of Israel`s witness depended on her distinctiveness. And that continues to be true in life of the Church today. Israel was taken from the nations to be intermediary: to be Gods representativ to the nations... Israels role: to be a people among whom God`s prescense would be seen, and to whom other nations would be drawn, seek to share Israel`s relationship with God. The same is true of the Church today.
