The email I sent our government reps including a cut & paste of their email addresses: I am so very disappointed in city council decision regarding Studio Charlotte. Extending this for the 5 month period to ensure that the NC Film Incentives are extended is the RIGHT and SMART thing to do. What other developer with such reach and such investment in Charlotte will even touch that land - much less bring the thousands of jobs it will bring. With Studio Charlotte Development, the land values will increase. There will be significant community development with the partnership with the Youthful ENERGY Foundation. No other developer can bring the amazing things this will bring to not just East Charlotte - but ALL of NC! The vote is unbelievable. People will remember this at re-election time. All we want is this wonderful opportunity and you know it is the right direction to move us in...please, realize this is what the people that voted you into office want - need - and deserve!!! You are willing to give money to sporting arenas...other companies from out of state that do not have the promise of being a staple of our community for the long haul as Studio Charlotte does. Why is it so hard to finally support an AMAZING venture like this so that Charlotte can once again be prosperous and successful?? I hope that every member of this council re-evaluates their vote and makes the changes needed to make Studio Charlotte a reality for the East Side!!! We will continue to fight for this. We hope the people we voted into office will hear us!!!! I also want to address the lack of information city council states Studio Charlotte has not provided. The council has all that they need to move forward. In the past, city council has taken proprietary information and made public to court other investors in a shady way of doing business. Thats why they are hesitant to give some very sensitive information. City council is well aware of why. Studio Charlotte has already invested a great deal of money and time on a project that has not even been approved yet. Their desire to be here speaks volumes. If city council will allow this to move forward, every detail they need to be astonished will be provided. I will continue to get the wonderful people of our continuity involved and we are upset, disappointed and most of all baffled by your decision. We have heard your reasoning and we know the truth behind it all, and we are willing to make this a mission that we will continue to rally behind and remember as we vote the next council into office. We are getting louder by the minute and we wont stop until this decision is re-thought. You are welcome to join us along with a large media presence this Sunday at out Studio Charlotte Support Rally (03/09 at 4PM - Steamers, 1513 Pierson Dr, Charlotte, NC 28205) where we will be clarifying things that were not able to be said during the city council meeting. The citizens of NC are ready to go to bat for this and Charlotte, specifically East Charlotte, has called their neighbors to arms to fight to keep Studio Charlotte at the old Eastland Mall location. I hope that you will rethink this decision and quickly. The people of Charlotte are VERY unhappy with your decision.
