The essential American Theatre magazine rarely writes about high school theatre, but they afforded me the opportunity to make the case for why school theatre censorship should matter – and must matter – to anyone who cares about the health of theatre in the U.S. I hope you’ll read and, most especially, share this, to spread the word. P.S. I didn’t write the headline. I don’t want this discussion to be about me, or seen as “Howard’s issue.” This should be something embraced by all. cc Trumbull For RENT, Friends of Sweeney Todd, transparency and free expression at Timberlane, Dawn Burch, Eric Constantineau, Larissa Mark, Jessica Spillane, Rob Kennedy, Amity Theater Department, Main Street Players (Maiden High School Theatre and Performing Arts Troupe), Conner Baker, Carmen Eckard, The Dramatists Guild of America, The Dramatists Legal Defense Fund, Samuel French, Inc., Dramatists Play Service, Theatrical Rights Worldwide, National Coalition Against Censorship, South Williamsport Area School District.
