The extra judicial elimination of the Sheikh whose tortured and mutilated body was found in Embu, in central Kenya was something that was expected after the adoption of the recently enacted security bill which was energetically moved and pushed by the Garissa Township MP and The majority leader Hon. Aden Barre Duale and the vice chair of the security committee Hon. Elyas Barre Shill MP for Fafi constituency. This incident indeed is terror itself and the honourable members of parliament should now go to Garissa and take part in the funeral of the inhumanly eliminated cleric. They should feel guilty if they actually have morals and integrity at all. In November, 2012, when 3 members of the KDF personnel were killed by unknown assailants we all know how KDF responded. The indiscriminate shooting, looting and the torching of Suuq Mugdi, and beating and rounding up of innocent and peace loving citizens and how the MP honourable Duale himself narrowly escaped the wrath of the KDF. We are all aware how the honourable MP cried out and likened Garissa to Gazza Strip that day. The national political representatives from Garissa county are all to blame but Honourable Abdikadir Omar Aden. This young man who is a first timer in the National Assembly has made his reservations loud and clear and he was right to do so because he was far-sighted and knew what this bill meant and what was coming. Our sons colleague Hon. William Ruto, the Vice President of Kenya and International Criminal Courts (ICC) inductees pre-emptive comments who has openly accused Kenyan Muslims to storing arms in the mosques. A hate monger and no wonder why he is a suspect wanted for crimes against humanity at the Hagues. What do we expect from a security bill that is being presided over by a senior executive (Ruto) who has openly proclaimed his hate and intolerance for peaceful coexistence of multi-faith and multi-cultural Kenya. We all know that what happened in Rutos own Backyard ( Rift Valley) during the Post Election Violence (PEV) in 2008 where people who sought refuge in a church were not spared and were burnt down alive in the church. Christians killed Christians and a Muslim General Ali (Police commissioner) saved the nation from the turmoil. Duale and Shill should reflect on the position they took in the wake of the adoption of the Bill and should do the most decent option that one with morality and integrity will take. They should resign and change their positions immediately and work with growing coalition that is determined to overturn this disgraceful Bill that was not well thought out and that its consequences is going to divide Kenya along sectarian lines. Kenya will never be the same again if such senseless and thoughtless politicians are allowed to sow the seeds of mistrust and undo all the great moments of building cultural and faith cohesion in the past 50 years. The strategies being proposed in this Bill are far from working in the Kenyan context. It might just tarnish the Kenyan image nationally, regionally and internationally. We might even see more indictment at ICC and a longer list of indictees in the near future should common sense fail to prevail. Kenya is under a trying and testing moment and a truly concerned leader or common mwana inchi understand that it is being steered in the wrong direction. Operation Okoa Kenya.
