The first General Meeting of the European Business Forum (EBF) in - TopicsExpress

The first General Meeting of the European Business Forum (EBF) in Uganda was held yesterday evening at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel. At least 8 of the 10 European Heads of Missions in Uganda were present at the meeting, including a host of actors from the European business community. Their attendance is testament to the continued commitment of the European diplomatic missions in Uganda to the EBF. It was also symbolic of the interest from future EBF members in seeking to be part and parcel of this initiative, which roots to unite and champion the rights and aspirations of European businesses working and investing in Uganda. H.E Ambassador Kristian Schmidt, the EU Head of Delegation to Uganda, took opportunity to draw attention and congratulate all sides on the recent signing of the Economic Partnership Agreement, and the commercial opportunities that this presents to the EU and the East African Community. The event was organised by the EBF-Interim Executive Board comprised of 10 volunteers from the private sector. At the meeting, members discussed the Forum objectives, future activities, membership criterias/fees and took part in an engaging Q&A session. The Forum will soon be registered, while the hunt for an Executive Director to run the Forum is imminent, ahead of a scheduled formal launch in early 2015.
