The first North Atlantic Sessions are complete! Unbelievably good weekend in Sandwick and Fetlar. Two amazing sell out shows but even better craic, tunes and funs inbetween. So many people to thank so apologies for this essay of a post! First of all to the Carnegie Hall committee for making the venue such a great place to host and for feeding us. Heard a lot of people commenting on how good the table service was too! Also to the Fetlar locals who made us feel so welcome during Saturday and Sunday, bussing us about and laying on a great barbeque. Big thanks to Robert Wishart and Jonny for their work on the logo design, backdrop and promotional material and to Neil Riddell and Adam Guests support getting word out (also for their reviews). Jonathan Ritch was his usual genius self when it came to doing the sound, especially when we didnt know what was going to happen in the build up to Sat night. Also a big thanks to all our volunteers who came up on the day and offered great encouragement through the whole planning. Bryan Peterson, Rita Smith and Anne Rose were always on hand working on the doors and Ive never seen raffle selling like it Gayle Henry, Cathie Henry, Rebecca Colyer, Leah Colyer. Bryan and Jonny Polson also did their usual sterling work compering the raffle draw! Ant and Dec eat your heart out. I was blown away by the artists on both nights. The quality was probably never going to be in doubt but the way everyone mucked in and tried things out was so good to see - Haltadans, Arthur Nicholson, Peter Gear, Ewen Thomson, Kris Drever, Kansa, Vair, Teevliks, Eve Maguire, Liza and Alison, Ashley and Andrew Leaper, Mary Rutherford, Alison Laurenson, Louise Thomason, Chloe Robertson, Jane McLaren - you are all brilliant! Delighted that Rodrigo has captured some of the music. Finally, this whole thing wouldnt have been possible without the support from Shetland Arts Development Fund. Safe to say Im absolutely shattered today but me, Maurice and Lois will get scheming shortly ;)
