The first believers were filled with holy expectation when they met to worship God because they knew that some of them had dropped dead in His presence, that others had risen from the dead through His presence, and that at least two of their buildings had literally shaken with His presence. When the first believers gathered together to worship, they knew that the temple curtain had been torn in two at Christ’s death, and that—like Moses and the high priests—they would be entering the holiest place. They knew that they were being drawn into the terrible-yet-gracious presence of God, and so were sure that something extraordinary was bound to happen again!
