The first of the Leo full moons takes place on the 1st degree of Leo, the symbol for which reads: A case of apoplexy 1 Leo The symbol for the lunar degree reads: An old adobe mission 1 Aquarius The main feature of the figure is a t-square containing the full moon axis and Saturn as the apex planet. It is an applying t-square, so it is waxing in strength. Saturn as the apex of a t-square speaks of ambition, driving forward of purpose, self-responsibility and the working out of karmic necessities. We may feel apoplectic when we consider the implications of this full moon, but what is really being instituted here is a cycle of self-discipline and concentrated effort, to be distributed and/or culminated at the next full moon. It calls upon us to stand steady in the face of any circumstance or eventuality. One thing we need to keep in mind when looking at a configuration like this is wisdom through experience. There is a need now for stability and an honest appraisal of past actions and one’s direction under this full moon, as well as the garnering of the knowledge gained through our past efforts. It is a fitting figure, given the Cancer full moon just passed, especially when one considers that Leo has a special relation to the star Sirius and thus to the greater law of Karma in our local universe. This full moon links the effort in Cancer to the coming Virgo full moon via the sign Leo. It embodies the mental focus needed to take what was born or conceived in Cancer and to bring it to full fruit in Virgo. In this year, then, we have more than the usual emphasis upon the development of mental fortitude and scope, of the development of one’s unique sensitivity to one’s immediate environment, of a steady and measured approach to the linking of spiritual intent to outer activity and compassion as a means for doing all of these. Strange as it may seem, compassion is born out of the school of hard knocks, for no one understands us better than someone who has been in our shoes before. All of these points are further facilitated by another t-square in the figure, composed of a Mars/Jupiter/Pluto opposition with Uranus as the apex planet. The full effects of this will be in evidence by the end of this month. It is a dynamic and fiery configuration and one that will definitely bring conflict with it. It is a precipitating factor for the karmic implications of the previous t-square involving the full moon axis. In the midst of this and as an ameliorating factor, we find a grand trine involving Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune, a triangle that carries the energy of the anchoring of spiritual imperatives in the outer life, and in a big way. It is a triangle of energies that can build large and into the future. This energy is released and distributed via the tensions brought about through the two t-squares. In all, this full moon has a lot on offer. It calls us all to be our best, to exemplify all that is good within us. Enjoy!
