The first person who showed me that animals other than humans could make tools and use them was astrophysicist/cosmologist, Carl Sagan. He pointed out that chimps in the wild strip bark off twigs and slide them into anthills to attract the ants, then lick the ants off the twigs. He crushed the anthropological conceit that only humans create and use tools. Since then, lots of other examples have popped up, but that was the first time I saw something like that. Happy Primate Day to those who dig on them apes, and cosmologists curious enough to want to know about them, too. ;)
