The first time I heard the word क्षणभंगुर I was - TopicsExpress

The first time I heard the word क्षणभंगुर I was fascinated. By its sound, its imagery. It meant, something that lasts only for a moment. I kept on rolling it on my tongue for days. I was small. Maybe 12-13. It was from an essay in the Hindi text book. I think by Sharad Joshi. Anyway, id use it in every possible context. Like when someone would come to call on parents. Goodbye time: Ok beta See you. Beta would reply, Oh yes Aunty, one can hope, but life is Kshanbhangur, so ... Id be promptly kicked in my shin by Mom. And politely told by D to practice my philosophy in private. With क्षणभंगुर, many images would come to mind. Dew drops on grass. A drop of rain. Drops of water sprinkled on a hot tava. And most often, a bubble. Before you know ... PoP! Now. Thats how I have always known bubbles. Thats how I thought Id always know bubbles: क्षणभंगुर. But that just shows that how little I know I think I will know...?!?! well you get the point! Yane, my mind has gone tizzy seeing stuff in the photos you see here. I met Ram Yadav from Kalkatta. He has been selling these Made in Indonesia plasticky bubbles that ... dont pop! Yane WT... Even if you puncture them. Even if you box them. Squeeze them. No. Nope. Nakko. A tiny tube priced at some 10-15 Rs can create 25 of these maha lasting bubbles. Ok. Ok. So like Ram Bhaiyya you also think I am old world, backward? Henh?! Maybe. But listen! I fought with him. And I fight with you. I told him. And I tell you. It is LOVE. I love my क्षणभंगुर bubbles. I love the way colours dance in them. Different colours, for different feelings. I love the way I chase them, like dreams. I love the way they never let me control. I love the way they decide how big they want to be. And I love the way they PoP when they want to PoP! I love the way they teach me life: Here now. Gone tomorrow. I love the way they will always be क्षणभंगुर. For in that क्षण, the opportunity. To dive. To PoP! No Ram Bhaiyya. I told him. No folks. I tell you. Let us please play bubbles .... floating in life. Teaching life. भंगुरता - pop- teaches the joy of the क्षण. No pop. No life. Kabir Saab said it a little more eloquently some time ago: पानी केरा बुदबुदा, अस मानस की जात देखत ही छिप जाएगा, ज्यों तारा परभात PS: Mom. She kicked my Shin. And I took recourse to practising philosophy. In private. On my very public fb wall.
