The flyers are working. I got a call today from someone who is convinced he saw Paco on the day he flew away. He was heading to work (just before 2pm) on his postie motorbike and had just pulled out of macarthur drive to head west on shute hbr road heading towards centro direction when he noticed a large green parrot crashing heavily thru the top of the large mango tree on Shute Hbr rd; loud enough to hear over the sound of his motorbike. He sad the bird then flew west (clumsily- he thought it must have had heavily clipped wings) off into the trees by the creek and bridge between Big 4 van park and blue bay estate turnoff. I went down there this afternoon to look for green feathers or harness at least. No signs of him or his remains, but loads of trees [and it HAS been a month] but if he met his end there I would think there may be some signs like feathers etc. There is lots of water in the creek, and plenty of bird life, so I went into the van park to look further. I went to the back of the Park and met up with the part owner who lives on site and has alexandrines in an aviary. He has seen facebook posts of Paco so was aware, but his partner hadnt and as I was speaking to him she overheard me talking about green parrot and came and joined in the conversation to say that she had seen a large green parrot with red on him sitting in a tree, partly obscured from view just yesterday morning. She said it then flew in short flights from tree to tree out of her sight. Their young son also saw it. They have loads of birdlife around them and are aware of whats around locally and they both tohught there was something different about this bird. Im not getting my hopes up too much, but the experts say that tame parrots that arent great flyers dont go too far away often- so who knows, it could be him just hanging in that area, or just another green parrot. Eitehr way, Ill drop some flyers along Paluma rd, just in case..
