The former Economic Adviser to Chief Minister Mr Shafi Mather has resigned from the board of directors of two Public Limited Companies floated by state PWD under league minister Ibrahim Kunju to undertake CIAL model Public - Private Partnership(PPP) projects for setting up a net work of state of art Bus Shelters and Public toilets across the state. Mr Shafi was the lone non official member of both the companies. The cabinet approved the decisions in April . The two companies with the minor public equity of 26 per cent to be provided by Kerala Roads Board Fund Board (KRFB) are ASHWAS PUBLIC AMENITIES KERALA LTD(APAKL) and PRATHEEKSHA BUS SHELTERS KERALA LTD(PBSKL) The two companies had the same board of directors The former Economic Adviser also resigned from the COMMITTEE FOR SPONSORSHIP AND RIGHTS of the forthcoming National Games in Kerala The first two projects on government land were to be run on revenues generated through paid services at the facilities. The National Games Committee was the principal vehicle for raising funds for the Games from Private Companies as was sought to be done for EMERGING KERALA through priced coffee table corporate directories sponsored by corporates and published by DC books. An investigation is called for into the role of former Economic Advisor , himself a Kochi based private builder and real estate magnate in the above three bodies. What is the role of an Economic Adviser to the Chief Minister. Is it one acting as a go between Govt and the private sector ? Underpinning all the above ventures is the neo liberal policy of the UDF government on the same lines as that of Manmohan Singh Chidambaram Montek Singh led UPA govt at the centre. You can be rest assured that if Mr Shafi Mather had not to resign his post in the wake of Solar Scandal , he would have been the driving force of the next PPP venture announced yesterday by Mr Ommen Chandy , a public funded company for utilizing the services of retired experts including those from the private corporates.
