The gap theory comes from the Kabbalah! Scofield tried to reconcile scripture with so-called science by claiming fossils are a PRE-gap remnant: Relegate fossils to the primitive creation, and no conflict of science with the Genesis cosmogony remains. (Gen 1:11 note) So the Scofield gap WAS to reconcile with Darwinism! Worse yet, he was factually wrong in the note to claim that only *animal* fossils are found. I have lots of plant fossils in my back room. Even if there was a gap, Noahs flood wouldve restructured the earths surface and buried pre-gap fossils, and the fossils we find today would still be a result of Noahs flood, not a gap flood.
