The generational crisis of the House of Saud is at hand. Since the death of Abd al-Aziz in 1953, the kings of Saudi Arabia have been his sons, without succession passing to the next generation. Two members of the line of succession, the Crown Prince and the Deputy Crown Prince, are designated. With the death of King Abdullah, Muqrin, the last son of Abd al-Aziz becomes Crown Prince.
