The government says that the sangguniang kabataan has lost its reason. This is mainly because young sk chairpersons from the ages 13 to 15 have already become contractors instead of youth leaders. In the 1980s the KABATAANG BARANGAY was created with no less than Imee Marcos, as National President. There were no funds allocated, and the KB have to raise their own funds to sustain its leadership and youth activities. The good KBs had projects for livelihood, scholarships, dulaang KB, and most of all we were trained to be honest, innovative and resilient that gave tangible projects for the youth. Yes, I am proud product of the KABATAANG BARANGAY and as Mayor of Iloilo City has brought a lot of progress and development. BRING BACK THE KB way of training and preparing the youth for the future. For afterall, they are the hope of our motherland.
