The greatest & first commandment is love for God, while the second is love for man. Jesus divided the whole duty of man into two categories: that is love for God & love for man. Love is therefore the greatest commandment. Our love for God should be total & completa & should surpass & supersede our love for everything. It should reflect in the way we worship Him, sacrifice our time, energy, money for His service, & even fear Him both in the open & in secret. Many people, who profess to love God, do not really live it out. For instance some people stay away from the church on sundays & fellowship days, to watch football matches,some people who love money more than God, do businesses on sundays while some answer telephone calls during church services. In the same vein, our love for our neighbour should measured with the way we love ourselves. Do you really love neighbour? Are there some people you are having grudges against? Hatred, grudges, enmity, unforgiveness, malice, selfishness etc are all signs of the fact that we do not love our neighbours as we love ourselves. Our love for our neighbours should not be in mere words, but it should be true love that shows itself in action (see 1 John 3:18). Today, go & make peace with those who have offended you & those whom you have offended, & the peace of God will fill your heart.
