The ground is level at the foot of Christs cross. This is not an easy walk in our consumer culture in which everything is so polarized. From religion to politics to pop culture, everybody believes that their way is THE way. We treat our celebrities like idols and our politicians like messiahs. Within the church, we treat our ministries and church-growth models as inviolable laws of nature. We start thinking that our way of doing church is the only way of doing church. We believe that our way of preaching is the only way to preach. In the wild swings of the ideological pendulum, we go well beyond what the Scriptures actually command. And the result is a monochromatic, one-dimensional church and an impotent gospel. ..... ..... The gospel of Jesus Christ is worth living for , yes, and it is worth dying for, of course, but we show it is supremely valuable to us when we deny ourselves and take up our crosses to be a blessing to the people who the gospel is calling us to. NO more ideological pendulum swings. No more being swayed by every wind of false doctrine. No more being moved to and fro by speculation and myths and doubts and self-interest. Instead, we (together) stand firm in one spirit (phil.1:27). -taken from To Live is Chist To Die is Gain M. Chandler
