The holiday is “Independence Day”! There is an old joke; does England have a fourth of July? Well of course and so does all the other nations. However England does not have an Independence Day! Today we celebrate our independence! We are not celebrating the fourth of July. The fourth of July is just another day in the summer. Every other nation has a fourth of July. You may ask why it matters? Independence is something that too many in our nation today have no concept of. We are dependent on so many systems in our society that our forefathers would be disgusted with us. We are dependent on grocery stores. Too many of us have no idea how to grow our own food. If the local grocery store were to go out of business people would starve and steal. I recall it being said that most families have less than three days of food in their house. I want even get into how many folks can not sew a patch on pants and other basic clothing repairs We are dependent on our utilities. Power, phone, cable, gas etc….If any of these services are disrupted most people freak out. No power? How will we watch TV? Realistically unless you are an avid backpacker or re-enactor you have no idea how to cook a meal without a stove in the kitchen. No cell phone, so how will I text my friends? You get the message….or maybe I can email it to you. Sadly of all....we are too dependent on govco. We have the false since of security that govco can protect and provide for us. Do you really think govco can deal with health care, fuel prices, disaster assistance, or stopping crime? We have bought the lie that govco can solve these problems. We depend on govco to solve any problem. We have become so dependent on govco, it has become a god to us. We view it as omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient just like Yahweh. So today let me encourage you to celebrate Independence Day today by starting your journey towards independence. Learn how to perform simple skills that just a few generations ago were everyday life. Learn how to grow a small garden. Learn how to survive without utilities. Start off with just a few days and work towards a week, then two weeks. Assume responsibility for your family’s safety and be prepared to defend them. On the celebration of our Nation’s Independence, today declare your independence and that of your family’s. Take our society and govco off of Yahweh’s throne. Return Yahweh to the throne of Majesty in your life!
