The human brain, if taught from first breath, can be completely conditioned to recognize 2 colors on opposite sides of the color spectrum as being exactly the same. And in turn be unable to distinguish the 2 from the other. Say white and green. So in theory a world where color has been phased out completely, such as in The Giver, is not only plausible but also theoretically happening in our current life. Imagine of all the colors we see, if because of generations of conditioning, we are only able to see a small fraction of the billions of others. The same can be said of actual objects as well.
