The hummingbirds are back and we have a few tips for attracting these beautiful little birds to your yard. First things first, if you have a hummingbird feeder from previous years make sure you clean it before you put it out this year. Having a clean feeder is essential to keep the hummingbirds coming back. Remember to flush out the feeder with hot water every time you fill it and to thoroughly clean your feeder with a solution of 1/4 cup bleach to one gallon of water at least once a month. Dont have a feeder yet? No problem! We have a large selection of hummingbird feeders and premixed nectar to get you started. Place your hummingbird feeder in a sunny location and near bushes if possible because these little birds love to perch after they have finished eating and remember the more the merrier! Hummingbirds are territorial so the more feeders your provide the more birds you will see. Feeders arent the only way to attract hummingbirds to your yard though. There are also a wide variety of plants that will not only bring the birds but will bring some beauty to your yard as well. You can plant anything from annuals such as Fuschia, Lantana and Million Bells to perennials like Bee Balm, Columbine, Catmint and Hollyhocks. There are also vines and bushes you can plant such as Butterfly Bush, Rose of Sharon, Trumpet Vine and Honey Suckle Vine. Thats just a short list of plants and there are many more available, so come in today and get your yard ready for these fluttering little birds to come and visit you!
