The ice is still working on melting..... if you can call that work.... some mornings we can walk on it (sort of) right close to the shore.... other mornings it is just a layer of slush. It all depends on the overnight temperatures. Two days ago an open lead (section of open water) developed out at the point (about 1 mile out). The ice floe then started moving back and forth whenever a wind came up. One morning it is far out from shore... the next it is right up to shore. Each morning the ice gets darker and darker (you can also read that as thinner and thinner tho it is the color different we actually see). The water levels are also rising.
