The idea gram swaraj (self-rule for villages) The concept of gram swaraj that Vinobaji envisioned was a village community which was not dependent on the government for their needs, but was self sufficient and self dependent in matters of food, clothes (by use of charkha), security, health, education, and resolving quarrels and disputes by strengthening and empowering the villagers. It would be ideal for people to take care of themselves and the government should only help facilitate this. Do not forget the tribals (adivasis)
