The impasse between the ASUU and the Nigerian govt is not about - TopicsExpress

The impasse between the ASUU and the Nigerian govt is not about the insensitivity of the Nigerian govt alone whose extravagant life has attracted ASUU to continuously demand for their due as agreed in the 2009 agreement, but the ASUU as a body also is insensitive to the plight of Nigerian govt. In the history of this country ASUU and the Doctors have always been our problem when it comes to strike as if they are the only one suffering in the country. What if other parastatals like PHCN, Police, Armed forces, judiaciary, local govt workers and others should go on strike. Is it the case that they are well being taken care of by the govt? Definitely, no. ASUU also should come to negotiation. Sometimes, they refuse to come to negotiation because they will still collect the salary they did not work to earn while they continue other businesses of their own now. I think it should also be passed into law that any worker going on strike should also loose one quarter of their salary, so that they also will feel the consequences of their action the general populace is facing. Govt also should look at herself to check the corrupt practices and undue infringement which continuously drain the purse of this country.
